Giving Tuesday…

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving (or weekend, for all the international readers). I’m so thankful for you, friends!

As you may know, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is often referred to as “Giving Tuesday”, where people are encouraged to make charitable donations. I am on the Board of a nonprofit that promotes research and advocates on behalf of patients with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) called Standing Up to POTS. Tomorrow we are launching our Giving Tuesday fundraising campaign!

All funds raised will go towards research into POTS. In 2017, we funded a grant to Dr. Svetlana Blitshteyn, a well known POTS specialist. We hope to provide an even larger grant in 2018. But we need your help. I’m not asking you to donate, but please consider sharing our fundraiser on your social media. POTS research is just starting to get exciting, but we need more.

Thanks, friends. I love you.

Smell ya later.

  1. Hey! I’d actually wondered – but been too ADHD to remember to ever research – whether Standing Up to POTS was a) legitimately a charity and b) a U.S.-based one if so. Glad to know the answer to those both is “yes.” Their infographics have been helpful for explaining what the back this thing is that I have, so glad I can legitimately use them.

    1. Glad you find them helpful! Standing Up to POTS is based out of Ohio, so we currently have a bigger presence there than the rest of the U.S., but have been growing. We are run entirely by volunteers, so other than a little bit of overhead costs, most of our funds raised goes directly to helping POTS patients.

  2. Off topic but we need an ICD 10 code and recognition of dysautonomia as a disability. Call CMS and the Social Security Admin. Foggy brain, pain, blocked bowels, nausea, blurry vision and fainting do not make us more employable.

    1. Agree this would make life easy. For some reason Pots isn’t a listed disability when it should be. Because of this nobody will help me seek ss benefits no lawyer will help. Guess I will be broke and homeless
