a notice for my soCal friends…

A notice was posted at my cardiologist’s office that Scripps La Jolla offers Yoga for Dysautonomia every Wednesday evening at 6:15p.m. at the Schaetzel Center Building at the Scripps Memorial Hospital campus. I think the address for the Schaetzel Center is 9890 Genesee Avenue, La Jolla, CA 92037 (please double check that before you go).

Here is the flyer that was posted:

yoga

I have not been yet, but hope to make it soon. Classes are free, and it sounds like they are very supportive of all skill levels. If you’ve been wanting to try yoga but are afraid how it will affect your dysautonomia, perhaps yoga in a cardiac rehab center is the place to start!

Smell ya later.

  1. This sounds like a really good idea, I hope you get to try it out!
I don’t have dysautonomia but other health issues and yoga is always one thing that gets constantly recommended… I’m just window shopping online for a yoga mat to give it a go at home! 🙂

  2. Okay, this post is actually a tiny bit depressing. I used to live in SoCal. Apparently if I were still there, I’d not only be hanging with my friends, but I’d have a doctor so versed in dysautonomia he created a special yoga class for it?! Umm, any chance you can share what they recommend for us newly diagnosed who love yoga thousands of miles away? Also, I feel like I need to cheer myself up a bit, so I guess I’ll at least say that, while I don’t live there, I also no longer live where it’s 100+ degrees half the year. Small victories?

    1. i’m sorry – i will absolutely share anything helpful! i hope you have a good doctor where you are now.

if it’s any consolation, it’s supposed to be 102+ most of next week.

  3. 73 where I am. I used to think SD had a great climate, other than for two weeks in August, but climate change seems to be doing a number on it. It was 106 in MARCH the last year I lived there… Ugh. Thanks for offering to share tips. I walk in the cool evening for exercise lately, but I would love to get back to yoga if I knew for sure the version I was doing was safe. Too many up-down transitions too quickly in most types I know. Even before I knew why those rapid transitions were rough, I knew I wasn’t handling them anymore. I have made a trip yearly back to SD since I moved. Wonder if they’d take a one-time drop in to check out the class! Who knows, we’re trying to find me a doctor who knows about dysautonomia to handle me from here on out. Maybe when I find one that person would start a class…

  4. I saw that at Aherns office too! But alas, live in Central California where the doctors know nothing of Dysautonomia, or more likely don’t want to! It’s 104-106 next 5 days. I need to move. Seriously.
    Hope everyone enjoys that class!!
    Luvya Lindsay!
